Walkable Rollercoasters

'Tiger & Turtle -- Magic Mountain' is Interactive

Duisburg, Germany is home to the large outdoor sculpture 'Tiger & Turtle Magic Mountain' designed by Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth. This metal-made maven pushes the boundaries of interactive art. The quirky sculptural piece resembles a theme-park thrill ride, with its soaring height and extreme loops.

Though this whimsical piece resembles a roller-coaster from afar, a closer look reveals that it is interactive and walkable, allowing visitors to fully engage with it. When atop the sculptural piece, visitors are lifted 45m above land gaining a grandiose view of their surrounding landscape.

The dynamic piece features a curved flight of stairs that steep in different ways and built-in Led-lights integrated in handrails. The built-in lighting illuminates the sculpture and allows for night-time accessibility.
