Concrete Partitioned Preschools

The Contemporary Pio Baroja Nursery by Rstudio

Today's architects are designing educational institutions that eschew traditional aesthetics in favor of more modern and contemporary elements, and the Pio Baroja Nursery is a fantastic example.

Located in Valencia, Spain, the one-story Pio Baroja Nursery was designed by Spanish architecture firm Rstudio. The place is fenced in by "weathered metal columns" and circles seem to be a primary element as the preschool features partitions and buttresses made of concrete punctuated by large circular holes, which act like cool doorways as you walk along the school's courtyard. Contrasting against the cool grey concrete walls are brightly colored inner room partitions and bathrooms. The designers have also ensured that the room dividers are flexible, allowing for space to be further divided or partitioned as necessary.
