Sweden is set to become the top destination for snow sports athletes worldwide once the Skipark 360 is complete. Designed by CF Møller Architects, Skipark 360 will be the longest indoor ski slope in existence measuring 2,297 feet long and standing 443 feet high.
Skipark 360 is Sweden's solution to global warming which has been blamed for the below average ski seasons that have recently been plaguing the Nordic nation. The park is designed to be multipurpose, hosting a snowboard snow park, an ice rink, cross-country trail, shops spas and hotels. A mammoth facility such as the Skipark 360 will require a lot of energy to keep running, but the designers of the park envision 100 percent of that energy coming from renewable sources such as the sun and win. Construction on the park is set to begin at the end of 2013 and is estimated to cost between $219-292 million.
