Sociable E-Reader Apps

The New Kobo Sharing Application Combines the Literary Experience

The new Kobo Sharing Application brings the book club mentality to the online world. The e-reader pioneer has teamed up with Facebook to create an integrated social media system that allows readers to share their ideas and opinions on novels.

Facebook’s new Open Graph will automatically allow readers to identify who of their friends are reading the same book at the same time. The announcement was made last week, making Kobo the fist e-book company to use Facebook’s new technology. With this application, two friends can share their reading preference, which will also appear in a box in Facebook Timelines.

Kobo had already incorporated social media platforms to its e-readers in the past with the intention to encourage better and more fun reading habits. Interactive dashboards, data boxes and interesting nerdy features will make e-readers more appealing to consumers. Thanks to the new Kobo Sharing Application, reading is now becoming a communal activity.
