Multi-Decade Designs

The Proenza Schouler Spring 2012 Collection Spans Over Several Eras

As the genius design duo behind luxury label Proenza Schouler, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez are no strangers to controversy and misunderstood avant-garde designs, and the Proenza Schouler Spring 2012 collection was certainly no different.

Staying true to their roots of high-end, high-priced, unique yet somehow still wearable looks, the designers sent models out onto an orange shag carpet rather than sticking to the plain-white runway. This made the entire Proenza Schouler Spring 2012 show a little bit reminiscent of the 1970s, a feeling that was only heightened by the retro overhead lights placed above.

The first few looks of the show, however, were definitely influenced by the 1940s, with the buttoned-up-all-the-way shirts and short suits, wooden platform shoes and the gorgeous cognac A-line leather skirt.

Like many other collections this season, the Proenza Schouler Spring 2012 line was full of yellow accents and florals, making it the quirkiest and most interesting collection for spring.
