For a limited time, an empty passageway between two warehouse buildings in New York has been upscaled by the Weightless Pull installation. The structure was created by Architecture CO for the residents of New York. The installation was crafted from nylon rope and plastic and was deemed an experiment of scale and field. The designers drew out a projection of what the installation might look like, and they estimated it would be 80 feet high and 30 feet wide. Their calculations were close to the projections, but ultimately the space and nature of the area deemed what the appropriate height was for the project.
The free-flowing plastic strips move to the rhythm of the wind and its surrounding environment, but the installation looks especially stunning when a large gust comes and picks the strips up off the ground. The designers used 18,000 feet of plastic wrap and 600 knots to create the Weightless Pull installation.
