A new photo collection by Paul Octavious called 'Grandpa's Records' hopes to remind us of the majesty and wonder of a spinning record -- not just the crystal-clear audio is produces, but the way it hypnotically spins around.
While mp3s helped the music industry take a mostly-positive leap forward, there are still nostalgic elements of records we all miss. Highest among its endearing qualities, records have the habit of sucking the listener in, as the music plays and the label wantonly spins around.
Paul Octavious describes the impetus for Grandpa's Records: "My Grandpa Jud used to play records for me all the time as a kid. The rotating gradients would put you in a trance, only to be stopped by grandpa changing the record."
These 10x15 giclée prints are available for a modest $50. Just don't ask for a refund if you find these photos hypnotic.
