Sony Allows TV Audiences to See the Wimbledon Championships in a New Light

This year, for the first time ever, the semi-finals and finals of the Wimbledon tennis tournament in London was broadcast in 3D on BBC HD, and was also shown in cinemas across the world, giving viewers a truly immersed experience.

This was all made possible with the technology employed by a team of Sony professionals, who had cameras rigged around Centre Court. This video, which features tennis player Maria Sharapova, goes behind the scenes as the technical team prepared. The Wimbledon Championships were surely a win, regardless of the end results of the competition, simply because it shows just how much 3D technology has developed over the years.
