Society has come to except your standard forms of furnishings, but the aim of the Oak. furniture collection was to reinterpret such iconic elements with a twist of comical creativity.
A group of students from Lund University who were enrolled in an industrial design workshop instructed by Jonas Lindvall. Seven pieces were created in total, using American wood products, sponsored by WBP Trading AB.
A couple of objects that are especially worth discussing are the sideways Sideboard and the Cookie Drawer. Both four-legged lumber pieces are elongated in unexpected directions. The buffet includes a drawer, far too deep to reach the back and the length that it assumes when open greatly limits its placement within a room. The lofty Cookie Drawer, on the other hand, is about as tall as the ceiling, making it an "aid for self-restraint."
The other objects within the Oak. furniture collection deserve a look as well; each both compelling and peculiar, executed with the crisp craftsmanship of Ali Atié cabinetry.
