These Jessica Joslin Sculptures Will Bring Out the Mechanical Sides to Animals

I've never seen steampunk animals as unique as these Jessica Joslin sculptures in real-life or in illustrations. Not only do they incorporate the actual remains of actual animals, but they're all decked out with mechanical parts and artistically placed in poses that evoke classic circus freak shows. In other works, they're awesome!

What you may not know though is that Jessica Joslin has led an artistic life equally as unique as these wonderful creations. What other child do you know collected flies off of windowsills to examine under microscopes? Her eclectic collecting continued until 1992 when she started constructing these marvelous animal hybrid contraptions you're currently looking at.

My personal favorite of the bunch has got to be the mermaid figure, which looks to have been constructed from the head of a rodent with a body made of spoons and other mechanical knick knacks.
