Philosophical Fashion Photography

Nathan Jolliffe by Thom Kerr is 'Plato's Muse'

According to Plato, the philosopher’s role in society is to enlighten others with the knowledge necessary to understand the world rather than to remain chained in a cave with a limited perception of reality. To create this philosophical fashion spread for The Fashionisto, photographer Thom Kerr and stylist James Dykes assumed the roles of modern-day philosophers by enlightening us with their knowledge of fashion.

Model Nathan Joliffe was placed in a cave-like setting wearing leather shorts by Junya Watanabe and gladiator sandals by Givenchy. James Dyke also incorporated a wide variety of international labels including Calvin Klein, Chronicles of Never and Zambesi, as well as some personal finds to create sartorially elegant looks fit for a modern-day pupil of Plato.

The photo shoot might only be superficially inspired by Plato's work, but it proves that Thom Kerr and James Dykes don't have a limited perception of fashion.
