Hill-Shaped Shopping Malls

This Foreign Office Architects Shopping Complex is Incredibly Designed

Foreign Office Architects is among my favorite architectural firms, largely because of their superb track record of creatively integrating green design into their works.

The Meydan shopping centre breaks traditional mall convention by resembling a series of gentle rolling hills. This is made possible by a truly staggeringly green roof that covers the entire mall, and which doubles as both a park for pedestrians and a natural cooling system. On top of this incredible achievement, Foreign Office Architects also designed the complex to derive all of its power from solar panels.
