DIY Foam Furniture

The Scum Chair by Hannes Harms Looks Like It's Made Out of Bubble Gum

Hannes Harms is anindustrial design student who has created an awesome piece of furniture called the Scum Chair that requires a little do-it-yourself action. The design is simply beautiful, using cardboard cutouts and expanding foam to create individual oddly-shaped seats.

The Scum Chair contrasts the aesthetics of the rigid and structures cardboard pieces against the wild and free-formed foam support. Since some assembly is required, each Scum Chair will ultimately turn out be a one-of-a-kind piece. The first thing I thought of when I saw this chair was that a giant wad of gum holding it together, it's definitely a conversation starter.
