The project began by sending nearly 200 paper airplanes up to a height of 36,000 feet via a giant helium balloon and then releasing them. Attached to each plane was a Samsung SD Memory card, as the company wanted 'Project Space Planes' to demonstrate how durable they are. Each card had a message written on it by people from all over the world and the project's website currently allows those who chance upon one of the planes to upload its attached SD card data for verification.
