Plastic Trumpets

The Vuvuzela is the Official Noisemaker of FIFA 2010

The vuvuzela is a plastic trumpet of about 1 meter in length and a must-have if you go to a soccer game in South Africa.

The sound from the vuvuzela has been compared to an elephant in distress or a swarm of angry bees. Whatever it sounds like to you all visiting fans to the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup will have to brace themselves for a healthy doze of vuvuzela magic.

It is not sure where the name vuvuzela originated from, but theories have it that it means making noise in Zulu. What we do know, though, is that the vuvuzela is true to the African traditions where villagers were called to a meeting by blowing on a Kudu horn.
