Nicole Richie's Gift Registry For Needy Moms

Nicole Richie will soon be launching a charitable online gift registry that will provide baby items for moms that cannot afford them.

The site will be run through the Richie-Madden Children's Foundation she set up with her boyfriend Joel Madden, with the backing of sponsors who will donate the goods.

In the same way those getting married set up gift lists, after registering through social services, moms in need can set up lists of items they need for their babies. Donors view the lists and decide how much or how little they want to donate.

It's a great idea and, with celebrity backing, is sure to expand beyond the New York and Los Angeles areas it plans to target first.

Joel has also recently been named UNICEF's newest Goodwill Ambassador, so it looks like there are more great things to come from this charitable couple.
