Thomas Beatie, is a transgendered person who was born a woman but made the transition to become a man, then made headlines when it was announced he was pregnant. About 10 years after his transformative surgery, Beatie, 34, gave birth to a baby girl on June 29th at an Oregon Hospital.

Beatie, who grew up in Hawaii, told People Magazine that he began his life as a man while in his twenties. Eventually he had surgery to have his breasts removed but kept his female reproductive organs and began taking male hormones.

Thomas is married to Nancy Beatie and the baby girl, who was delivered naturally, is their first child together. Nancy, 46, already has two grown children from a previous marriage. There is no news on the name chosen for the newborn girl.
