Knitting with Electrical Cords

Kwangho Lee's Woven Lights

Montreal gallery Commissaires is currently presenting designer Kwangho Lee's creative lighting projects which are knit from lengths of electrical cord.

Kwangho says his “biggest inspiration of this lighting is my mother's knitting hobbies during my childhood.”

All the designs are made to order from a single wire varying from 10 to 300 meters long. The designs leave me with an overwhelming urge to detangle and roll back up into a neat ball!

Implications - While lighting may seem to represent a mundane product that many consumers already own, in reality placing creative touches on frequent consumer purchases like lighting is a smart way for companies to ensure their products are always needed.
