Post Mastectomy Fashion

Ann Jacqueline Design

Breast cancer survivors often struggle with feeling beautiful while staying comfortable after a mastectomy, but Anja Mullins, a survivor herself, has set out to change that with Ann Jacqueline Design, a line of flattering post mastectomy fashion.

The apparel is meant to make women feel attractive and comfortable as finding clothing after the surgery can be quite a struggle. Prosthesis can be bulky and heavy as well as awkward when they shift around inside a bra.

"Any woman who has had a mastectomy soon realizes that all sense of fashionable comfort is gone forever," she says. "Either you're wearing 'the prosthesis' and are physically uncomfortable or you're not wearing ;the prosthesis' and are uncomfortable with your appearance."

Mullins created a one-piece garment that entirely eliminates the need to wear a prosthesis and has designed an accompanying fashion line for both those who have undergone single and double mastectomies.

"Women may now choose to wear a lightweight, pull-over, one piece prosthesis free, fashionable garment that can be worn in any social setting," she explains.

The line includes camisoles, lace top, T-shirts, tank tops, sleepwear, swimwear as well as accessories like watches and scarves.
