Bug-Styled Vertical Farms

The Dragonfly in New York City

The Dragonfly is a vertical farm concept that looks like a giant bug. The building will be rising from the swamps of Roosevelt Island in New York, if Vincent Callebaut Architects get their way.

The Dragonfly is trying to bridge the chasm between ecology and environment in an urban setting. Supposedly the building would be large enough to grow food and provide renewable energy for the area.

The concept is a towering 128 floors high... which may be a bit much for New Yorkers, but credit should be given to the architects for having the guts to present such a unique concept.
