Overtly Violent Art

Disturbing Photography by Alison Brady Looks Murderous

There has been a run of overtly violet and faux-murder themed art lately, and the work of New-York based photographer Alison Brady certainly fits the bill.

Her female subjects are positioned in contexts that suggest impending violence or that some form of violence has just occurred against them.

The images of women with pillowcases tied around their heads execution-style, legs dangling lifelessly from the unseen, women tangled, strangled and bound, are all disturbingly eerie and unsettling.

Implications - Alison Brady's photography is in many ways similar to the art work of Hitchcock; for both artists the fear lies in the imagination of the viewer caused by the unseen in the images. Brady produces some excellent photography and it will be interesting to see what she creates next.
