PUMA's CELL GEO 1 CAGE Is Structural Footwear

PUMA and London label _J.L-A.L created the CELL GEO 1 CAGE, a laceless sneaker built around a three-dimensional TPU cage inspired by Buckminster Fuller’s geodesic logic. The shoe pairs that triangular framework with a seamless mesh upper and is scheduled to release September 12 for ¥33,000 JPY, approximately $215 USD.

The design replaces conventional overlays and laces with a molded triangular cage that wraps the breathable mesh, while segmented heel components add articulated, engineered detail. The model appears in dark brown and white executions that emphasize shape, depth and the interplay between the rigid cage and lightweight textile. PUMA’s CELL heritage provides the technical platform beneath the collaboration.

For wearers the CELL GEO 1 CAGE foregrounds structure as fit and aesthetic, offering containment through construction rather than lacing and creating a distinct, architectural silhouette. Its material contrast makes the sneaker feel performance-minded yet experimental, expanding how footwear can express engineered design.
