Stunning actress Camilla Belle has signed on to play the Virgin Mary in "Mary, Mother of Christ." The Virgin Mary and her immaculate conception have been the inspiration of a number of sacrilegious and controversial innovations.

There is hymenoplasty, a surgery that restores the hymen to create a ‘technical virgin.’ A cover model posed in Playboy Magazine as the Virgin Mary. And Ricardo Oyarzun even strutted cleavage-baring Virgin Mary models down his runway. We can’t help but wonder what products and innovations Camilla Belle’s performance in "Mary, Mother of Christ" will inspire.

We do know, however, that Camilla Belle’s portrayal of Mary will be an empowering one. Producer Mary Aloe told the Hollywood Reporter that the film "...takes us through Mary’s youth, young love, her life as a new mother and the triumph through the absolute terror of Herod the Great’s reign.
