Peru as been declared in Peru by authorities who are failing to control a massive plague of rodents. Apparently rats love heat, and the current heatwave is encouraging them to breed more.
Nearly 150,000 people have been affected, spreading across six Peruvian regions, including in the capital city, Lima.
It is feared they could pose a public health hazard if the creatures spread disease through the food supply. Whilst Farmers are also suffering, with rats roaming on land containing crops, livestock and naturally-growing vegetation.
Fumigating is taking place and tghe state of emergency will last for three months.
