Trashy Pin-Up Art

Lorenzo Masnah Makes Pop Culture Garbage Into an Art Form

Lorenzo Masnah's collection entitled “Bonita” is anything but trashy - even though it is technically made from trash. The Mexico-born, New York-based artist finds old 60s magazine pin-ups and jazzes them up with his creative tags.

The Line Gallery just launched a solo show featuring Masnah's art, so be sure to check out his neon, bikini-wearing gals that really send a message about the city to the viewers.

Implications - Masnah explains that he believes "that trash is the carcass of the city." The smart artist uses his images to promote recycling awareness, proving that things that have been recycled can become amazing. He shows that once discarded items can have a new life with a little work and care.
