Starbucks on the Runway

Dsquared Fall 2009 Show Had Runways Clinging to Branded Cups

The Dsquared² Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear to show included one of the most ubiquitous accessories of the times—yet it’s the first time we’ve seen in featured on a runway.

We see celebs clinging to them in paparazzi shots, you find yourself holding them in the morning (and afternoon, and evening for some of you,) and now Starbucks has finally made its runway debut thanks to Dsquared².

The Dsquared² show was clearly inspired by the ensembles thrown together by Hollywood’s biggest starlets. The collection was marked by large sunglasses, long scarves peculiarly paired with light spring clothes (just like we see so many celebs do in LA) and the ubiquitous status-statement Starbucks cups. Some of the fashions were a little boho (think Mary-Kate Olsen) while others had more of an edgy rocker-vintage vibe you could imagine Sienna Miller wearing.

While McDonald’s McCafe was the official sponsor of NYC fashion week, it didn’t stop celebs from schlepping in their Starbucks lattes—and since it’s the stars Dsquared² seems to be emulating, this collection is just what every wannabe Hollywood fashionista will go crazy for.
