Scary Disney Footage

80 Years Later, This Retro Animation is Still Relevant

This is not a modern-day artist’s spin on Disney-style cartooning but an actual dark Disney animation from 1929 entitled ‘The Skeleton Dance.’ It was an animated short film which was produced and directed by Walt Disney.

Since I find Mickey Mouse scary--much like Ronald McDonald--the idea that such a macabre short Disney film exists does not surprise me. It is also fascinating to see, out of the context of the film, how stills from the animation have withstood the test of time.
