Global Marital Self-Portraits

Kimiko Yoshida Dresses As Brides of Different Cultures

These beautiful images are the work of French-Japanese photographer Kimiko Yoshida who, over the past seven years, created a series of self-portraits in which she presents herself as a bride from a variety of different cultures.

Nearly disappearing into the background of the photos, the artist has immersed herself into a diverse range of bridal traditions and the resulting images are truly stunning.

Implications - Kimiko Yoshida says that there is "no search for identity" in her work because she believes that it simply doesn't exist. She states that she is a body of "infinite layers" which can be peeled back like an onion to reveal nothing. The passionate artist is certainly an amazing woman filled with a lot of creativity.
