Marc Jacobs Retro Tracksuit Man Creates Buzz

Marc Jacobs is known for creating quirky, bizarre ads. We've even featured a few on Trend Hunter, which you can see below. Now a new series of Marc Jacobs ads are stirring a buzz in the fashion blogosphere too, this time featuring a bearded man, with glossy long hair, sporting a retro tracksuit and holding a brown leather bag a he sprawls out in sexy poses.

They're strange alright, but this time, they're fake.

We've seen fake status bags and fast fashion retailers knock-off designer clothes, but false advertisement is a refreshing spoof. The ads were circulating the web for a while, and for about a week, no one was certain if they were real MJ ads or parodies.

It turns out, it was all a prank, and the creative credit has been given to Hart+Larsson.

After the images first began circulating, no one had any idea who created the ads; not until Fashionista received the following email:

Hello Natalie.

We're photographers and filmmakers and advertising creatives.

We like to explore and to experiment and to challenge tired notions of what is and what is not.

The New Enthusiasm is our platform.

The New Enthusiasm is the new order of the very thing we are all witnessing.

We're huge Marc Jacobs fans. And Juergen Teller too.

We aim to flatter.

We thank you in kind.

And they shot over another email when she carried on asking questions:

For fun.

These are not scheduled to run anywhere but in your pretty little head tonight (just you wait).
