New Terms To Describe Male-ationships

Anyone familiar with my posts knows I'm a huge fan of verbal hybridization and crafty new terms that describe objects, situations or people in more applicable ways than existing words in the English language. Hence the appeal of this article man-lingo article I found on Canoe.

"York media christened non-gay male get-togethers the 'man-date.' Perhaps you've heard of a 'man-crush?' Noticed elite athletes redefining the meaning of "man-love" after scoring on the field or the ice?" Canoe asked.

Some of the top new man-guage terms?

"Man-shed" - the male adult equivalent of a treehouse, a place to hang out with the boys
"Male-cations" - vacations with the boys
"Male-lationship" - very strong, non-gay male bonds

A number of trendspotters, including Marian Salzman, see it as more than a language trend. Salzman already made the forecast back in 2005 in her co-authored book, The Future of Men.

"Guys are getting comfortable with hanging out and spending time with each other," she says. "If it's not a sporting event, then there are new rules."

Basically, men are spending more time hanging out with the guys. They're earning more money, and don't have to spend as much time with women as they become less demanding of attention in relationships due to more involvement in the work force and with their own friends.
