Transonic Combustion, a California startup claims it has a super efficient fuel injection system that can increase gas mileage by 50 to 75 percent. By heating and pressurizing treated gasoline before it is injected into the combustion chamber, fuel efficiency is optimized.

If the technology performs as the Transonic Combustion company claims, it could help automakers meet increased mileage goals and help bridge the gap between the internal combustion gas engine and the alternatives that will eventually replace it.
