As though straight out of a fairytale or futuristic film, the Sparkle Skirt twinkles every time the wearer moves. Of course, this twinkle shouldn't be confused with the sparkle and shimmer of gems, beads or sequins. Instead, the Sparkle Skirt is embedded with 12 color-changing LEDs that actually make it appear as though the wearer were hiding the night sky beneath her skirt.
Designed by Becky Stern, the Sparkle Skirt was created with the use of Adafruit’s Arduino-compatible wearables platform Flora. Connected via a conductive thread to the Flora main board, the Sparkle Skirt senses motion through an accelerated that then triggers her color of choice.
Stern has created a full tutorial teaching people how to create their own Sparkle Skirt, or something similar to it.
