'Spontime' is one of few social apps to be created in the digital age that encourages its users to make smarter use of social media in order to create time for more face-to-face interactions with friends.

The app gets its name from the word "spontaenous," as it is designed to help people act spontaneously with friends. The action-focused and personal app makes it possible for friends to join activities easily, such as a walk in the park or grabbing a cup of coffee. To do this, Spontime has its users post what they want to do, so that others may join in on a whim.

Creator Karolina Demianczuk describes that the inspiration for the app came after one of her university classes was cancelled and she had a two hour window to fill. She says: "I messaged my friends if they were free and around, but none of them were there. I had no idea another friend of mine was waiting for the same class in the cafeteria next door."
