Once a rarity reserved for fans of Star Trek, it has become more and more common for people to attend conventions dressed as their favorite superhero or game character. The phenomenon is known as Cos-Play short for Costume Play. Forrest Ackerman, the late editor of Famous Monsters Of Filmland magazine, is often credited with being the 1st person to ever attend a convention in costume at the World Science Fiction Convention in 1939. Just like the general public itself, fandom attracts people of all types, some with classic superhero physiques, and others with a more Jabba like appearance. Regardless of their body type, these imaginative souls live their dreams, and for a few weekend a year, become their heroes.
