Your Grandma's Sunglasses are So Hot Right Now

The Wayfarer is atruly iconic sunglasses design, manufactured by Ray-Ban since 1953. Already adopted by those in the know from Europe to the US, as well as trendsetters Chloë Sevigny and Kate Moss, it looks set to be the key style for summer 2007. Wayfarer and Wayfarer styles offer a welcome respite from the vintage oversized shades that have dominated for so long. While Ray-Ban relaunched its original Wayfarer, contemporary variations played with contrasting coloured arms and frames, proportion and coloured lenses. Classic black designs are timeless, but coloured plastic frames rule for the youth market in shades of red, blue, white and pink. The coloured frame look draws on the 80s/early 90s revival for inspiration, as seen at Lanvin and Luella.
