Newspapers around the world heralded the election of Barack Obama. One website that catalogs newspaper front pages was brought to its knees by the huge increase in web traffic.
The website Newseum.org hosts 600 complete front pages from cities around the world everyday in high resolution, suitable for downloading and printing. The election of Obama as president is only topped by the interest in newspaper front pages on 9/11 and 9/12. U.S. newspaper presses were working overtime as newsstand copies were selling at a rapid pace throughout the day.
Tomorrow will be another high traffic day as international newspaper front pages are uploaded. The entire front of the Chicago Tribune, Obama’s headquarters, featured a full page portrait.
