Scary Skate Cams

Josh Maready Gives Us a Skateboard's View of New York City

With the price of small, wearable GoPro cameras falling in price, photographer and skater Josh Maready used the opportunity to discover what New York City looks like from the belly of a skateboard. After a slew of technical setbacks and a number of broken cameras, Maready finally nailed the impressive footage.

As if the busy city traffic weren't deterring enough, New York City's streets are bumpy and poorly paved, which is how Josh Maready lost his first two GoPro cameras during filming. However, after making his way through Manhattan congestion, Josh finally arrives at a skate park and truly begins flying.

Boasting a shockingly slim design, GoPro and other wearable cameras are usually 3.3 ounces and can fit practically anywhere. As videos like Josh Maready's become more common, we'll get a better glimpse of life in strange places; inside an alligator's mouth, on top of a fighter jet or underneath a skateboard.
