Tim and Greg from YouTube channel Backyard Brains decided to hook up a live squid to an iPod for an 'Insane in the Chromatophores' experiment. The results were stunning and pretty funny, due to the nature of the song chosen for the experiment.
The basic idea behind this experiment was to monitor the axons of the Longfin Inshore Squid when music was directly in contact with the squid's chromatophores. The squid is known for its fast color-changing behaviour on its skin. The skins main color chromatophore are red, brown and yellow with the music of Insane in the Brain by Cypress Hill playing.
From the very beginning to the very end of the video, the squid starts to react to the music and pulsates with color with each individual beat.
