Eco-Friendly Mosque in Dubai

Solar power is said to be the next big thing in Dubai. As such, the emirate is set to build the first ever eco-friendly mosque in United Arab Emirates. It is believed to be the first environmentally-friendly religious structure in the country.

Concealed solar panels will be installed to provide power to the futuristic mosque. CO2 levels will be monitored while landscaped areas are to be irrigated using condensed water vapour from the air conditioning system.

According to Rashad Bukhash, head of architectural society of UAE, “Ancient Islamic buildings and mosques were built according to the human scale, and were not disproportionately large. Saving energy and materials is one of the teachings of Islam.”
