Japanese tram will powered by nickel-metal hydride batteries in the future. This is still in developing stage by Kawasaki. The project has already succeeded in running 10 km. on a single charge. Unlike buses, the tram recharges itself while running which no need to stop at the pit. If this project succeeds, it will certainly reduce the use of car in Japan.
