Emoji Dick offers a 21st century take on Herman Melville's classic book Moby Dick. The piece comes of Fred Benenson who brought the concept to life via Kickstarter.

Benenson invited users of the site to translate the book's famed sentences into Emoji's, the expressions that are most often used on smartphones. The editor then picked the top entries based on the pool of submissions.

The project received a warm response on Kickstarter with 83 supporters. It furthermore met its original goal of $3,500. His rendition of the fictional tale has since been accepted into the Library of Congress, according it with official governmental recognition.
