Cell Phone Waiting Tones Changed to PRC Patriotic Song

Chinese pride and communist propaganda has taken a new level with state-controlled mobile service providers changing the tone that you hear while waiting for someone to pick up the line into a patriotic Chinese song.

The song played instead of the waiting tone is called ‘Guo Jia,’ which means ‘Country’ in Chinese. One of the lines include “Only when we have a strong country can we have a prosperous family.” These changes were made to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China.
