Escentric Molecules' Cologne One Reminds of a Gin and Tonic

— April 30, 2026 — Fashion
Escentric Molecules, known for its chemistry-focused fragrances, introduced its first cologne: Cologne One.

At the heart of Escentric Molecules’ fragrances is Iso E Super, a synthetic molecule with smooth, woody essence developed by flavor and fragrance producer IFF. Cologne One pairs this signature component with Ambroxan, a touch of musk, plus top notes of juniper, lime and citrus. “We have a very different approach to fragrance, so our first cologne captures the very unique and wonderful freshness of a gin and tonic. I think it's quite new with that sort of freshness. It's the idea of the sparkling, effervescent gin and tonic first scent, this sort of your nose in the drink,” said perfumer Geza Schoen.

To support the launch of its first-ever cologne, Escentric Molecules is hosting a sensorial pop-up within Selfridges’ Beauty Hall, translating its molecular philosophy into a physical setting.

Trend Themes

  1. Molecular-driven Scents — The use of single synthetic molecules like Iso E Super enables highly controlled, minimalist scent formulations that redefine traditional fragrance composition and personalization.
  2. Cocktail-inspired Fragrance Profiles — Fragrances that mimic cocktail elements such as juniper, lime and effervescence create cross-sensory associations that blur the line between beverage flavor profiles and personal scents.
  3. Sensorial Pop-up Experiences — Temporary, themed retail installations translating product chemistry into immersive environments offer novel ways to communicate complex scent narratives and deepen consumer engagement.

Industry Implications

  1. Perfumery and Fragrance — Synthetic aroma molecules open avenues for formulators to craft signature olfactory identities with greater stability, scalability and regulatory predictability than natural extracts.
  2. Beverage and Alcohol — The convergence of cocktail aesthetics and scent design presents opportunities for beverage brands to extend their sensory branding into personal care and lifestyle products.
  3. Retail Experience Design — Designing immersive, science-forward retail activations offers experiential differentiation that can transform product launches into memorable, shareable cultural moments.
