 Praying for Britney Spears “Let’s love Britney,” said Pastor John Weece to his congregation at Southland Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky. “If she were your next-door neighbor in the same situation without the money and success, wouldn’t you care about her problems? Wouldn’t you pray for her and offer her support and encouragement?” he asked members of the church. Pastor John created a letter writing campaign to try and convince Britney Spears to turn to Jesus. Her woes with alleged substance abuse and weak parenting skills are disconcerting to him. Members of his congregation haven’t figured out how to get the letters to Ms. Spears, but they’re trying. A bumper sticker reads “Think Globally, Act Locally.” I wonder if Pastor John’s congregation could better serve a needy group in their own community.  Cindy Willison, the church's director of communications, was still collecting the letters on Friday and looking for the best way to get them directly to Spears.
"This is an opportunity for us to reach out to someone who probably doesn't have a lot of people in her life that care for her as a person," Willison said.
