Melting Polar Bears

Takeshi's Artistic Response to Global Warming

When I saw this pieces I just had to post them: They are from Kawano Takeshi and are a part of his 'Artwork for Fabrica' series.

Takeshi's concept is strong and simple. His sculpture subjects are the animals most affected by global warming, a penguin, a polar bear and a reindeer. Each sculpture looks like it's melting into the surface, a clear reference to global warming.

Implications - While these art pieces may make some viewers uncomfortable as they are quite disturbing to look at, their influence is so meaningful. Audiences can finally see what is occurring in foreign lands that they are unfamiliar with, and it may inspire them to contribute to more environmental causes.

Simply brilliant, and very powerful.
