On September 22, two men will make history if they succeed in their attempt to drive their biodiesel Volkswagen Jetta from Midtown Manhattan to Los Angeles without stopping for fuel.

Willie Nelson is behind this publicity stunt, dubbed the WillieRun '08, as his Bio Willie brand of biodiesel will power the mighty VW. Nelson hopes WillieRun '08 will draw attention to the other fuel-efficient automobile options besides hybrid cars.

To prepare for the run, the Jetta has been equipped with a primary tank and a second high-capacity tank to make the trip across the country.
