Wireframe Fireplaces
The Wireplace by Giulio Iacchetti Burns Away the Bulk of Conventional Hearths

By: Amelia Roblin (Superstar) Feb 1, 12

Your typical fireplace commands the attention of a room, and great care is put into deciding on the proportions of the fixture so that it’s presence does not completely overpower a space. Unexpectedly, the Wireplace by Giulio Iacchetti embodies an inverted appearance, emphasizing this idea of the void, rather than solidity.

No stone can be found in this peculiar home heater, for its frame is composed entirely from bent steel rods. These pieces of metal might have been cut to any size and assembled to any dimensions, but the designer chose to construct a skeleton that defines greater space—comparable to the breadth of a big brick hearth. The bio fireplace sits upon a shallow suspended tray, above a sturdy cement support as a base. The Wireplace by Giulio Iacchetti embodies clean lines for a minimalist form with a touch of fiery flair.
