Since 2009, Toyota has been pushing forward in robotic innovation and the Toyota health robots that were unveiled in Tokyo this past week are nothing short of remarkable. Toyota, in collaboration with Japan's Fujita Health University, revealed four robots designed to help the elderly and those who are incapacitated balance, walk and move easily.
One of the Toyota health robots is a computerized leg brace, called the Independent Walk Assist. It helps the patient walk and can adjust itself as the patient develops more strength, says TechNewsDaily. Another robot helps to retrain individuals in learning to walk again via sensors that detect movement in the hips, and another robot assists in helping patients balance themselves. This particular robot strengthens the user's muscles by having them play balancing games. Finally, the fourth robot, the Balance Training Assist, helps nurses and caretakers transfer patients short distances via a mobile platform.
