The life of a roadie is a hard one to say the least. Sure, you get to tour with rockstars all around the country, but your job consists mostly of (I assume) dragging heavy pieces of equipment to and from trucks. Well, the life of a roadie may be improved slightly by the FAMP, a 50W foam amp that tips the scales at 20 pounds.
The FAMP was designed by Tim Brennan of Tym Guitars, who was inspired to create the amp after many nights of wondering how you could make an amp lighter. The end result is the FAMP, which houses a "hand-built preamp and PCB 50W power stage, and 60W, 12-inch speaker" and is reportedly strong enough to stand on and light enough to be lifted by Brennan's 2-year-old.
Brennan plans to add to the FAMP family, and is currently designing a 100W foam amp and a 120W and 400W foam speaker cabinet. I bet $20 that rockers caught up in the moment will start throwing FAMPs into the crowd.
