From the outside, the CHIP House looks like an oddly shaped pillow, and when told the structure is actually a self-sustaining home that requires no external energy inputs, it begins to look even more comfortable.

CHIP stands for Compact Hyper-Insulated Prototype, which entails that this home manages to keep itself running on power that it generates on its own and uses a significant 750-square foot insulation that has been added around the home to keep warmth inside. It is an extremely creative, yet simple way to ensure the least possible amount of heat escapes from the home, and adds to the design of the building as well. Furthermore, the heat produced through air conditioning is used to heat the water. The designers of the CHIP House took a simple idea and made it possible for a green home.
